Christopher Kane f/w 10

Christopher Kane used the super-laced & super-strapped trend, that has been so prominent for a while now, and combined it with floral embroidered leather to great effect.

Proenza Schouler s/s 10 Shoes

I had previously posted that i thought that the Proenza Schouler s/s 2010 shoes had some great ideas but where "fugly." Well these less colourful examples allow those great ideas to shine through allot more. They are still very full-on but the originality of Proenza Schouler's designs is a force to be reckoned with.

Common Projects f/w 09

Being a fan of simple shoes, Common Projects is right-up-my-alley. Here are some looks at their f/w 2009 collection from their website.

Calvin Klein f/w 10 Shoes

Calvin Klein presented some killer shoes to accompany their special brand of minimalism, reminiscent of Burberry's f/w 09 range. Same toughness, same sole extending up the front, same mannish molded platforms, same skyscraper height. All details that I'm happy to see again, and interpreted in a new way with simple uppers and interesting materials such as metal & stingray.

Denim

I did a search on denim shoes after having the thought that they are disgusting and I have never seen any that I like. I wasn't blown away but I did manage to find some fairly decent examples. Lanvin has had a fair crack at this, probably with the most success. The closest to a really beautiful pair was the Lanvin oxfords (top.) Something that I discovered is that in order for them to not look completely nasty, the denim should be dark and contrasted with another material. This allows the denim to become more of a texture and less out-of-place. The sneakers also use this idea quite effectively but probably should not be worn with blue jeans.
Then I found this picture of denim sneakers for dogs (bottom) and thought that maybe in-fact all denim shoes should burn in hell. The jury is still out.

Miu Miu f/w 09 Shoes

Miuccia Prada presented a more mature look for Miu Miu f/w 09. Things still got playful with fur heels, sequins and some beautiful colours, but it's the common thread that ran through all the shoes that I liked the most. They all had a wonderful focus on trim and straps that I found very effective. My favourite style being the ones where the trim crosses over the top of the foot and actually becomes the strap. Perfect.

Raf Simons Buckled Sneakers

These Raf Simons sneakers have an interesting use and choice of buckles that almost makes them look like they're being overrun by cockroaches. I kinda like it.

Jean Paul Gaultier x Melissa s/s 10

Gaultier was one the first designers to collaborate with Melissa back in 1982. What I like about these is that they look like two different uppers layered over eachother (and, of course, that they are made of recycled plastic.)

Marc Jacobs f/w 10

LOVE the new womenswear collection by Marc Jacobs. So demure and serious. The models looked like sexy librarians in fur coats. Some beautiful shoes and boots in somber tones with the upper leather lasted over thick low heels.

McQueen ♥

After losing Lee McQueen a few days ago I have compiled a small tribute to his weird and wonderful contributions to shoe design. He truly was great.
